10/29/2010: Surgery of the Thyroid & Parathyroid Glands
Preoperative work up of both thyroid and parathyroid surgical disease will be discussed with an emphasis on fine needle aspiration and preoperative parathyroid localization imaging options. Surgical techniques will be reviewed, including recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring, parathyroid identification and preservation, and intraoperative PTH analysis during parathyroid surgery. Minimally invasive surgical techniques will be thoroughly discussed. Preoperative in-office sonography will be reviewed. Molecular genetic analysis for medullary carcinoma and advances in oncogene research as it applies to clinical thyroid and parathyroid disease will be presented. Surgical philosophy regarding bilateral thyroid surgery, surgical treatment of the neck, and surgical treatment of invasive tracheal disease will be presented. Recognition and treatment of postoperative complications and new advances in their treatment will be reviewed. Panel discussions will be centered on management of the difficult thyroid and parathyroid cases and will invite audience participation.

05/15/2010: Thoracic Malignancies
This one-day seminar will provide an up-to-date review of the current practice trends in the treatment of thoracic malignancies. Program sessions will emphasize clinical management of selected thoracic malignancies, including controversial treatment issues. Each segment will be followed by a discussion with an expert panel.
